Hebrews 10:36 “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”
Perseverance is continuing to do what is right even when we no longer feel motivated. It is easy to be faithful when we see results, receive encouragement, or feel close to God. But there are seasons when prayers seem unanswered, people do not change, our efforts go unnoticed, and we feel tired. Holy perseverance says, “I will remain faithful even when I cannot yet see the fruit.”
Notice that Hebrews connects perseverance with “having done the will of God.” Perseverance is not simply enduring difficulties; it is continuing to obey God in the middle of the difficulties. Keep praying. Keep loving. Keep forgiving. Keep serving. Keep trusting. Our faithfulness is not wasted simply because the results are delayed. Sometimes we want God to give us a new direction when He is simply asking us to remain faithful in the direction He has already given. God does not ask us to finish everything today but He asks us to take the next faithful step.
Reflection:
Where have I become tired and been tempted to stop? What is one thing God is asking me to faithfully continue?
Application:
Choose one thing God has already asked you to keep doing and don’t stop because you are tired or the results are slow. Pray, “Lord, help me take the next faithful step,” and do it today.
