Day 15 - Holy work

Audio

Colossians 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

We often divide life into what feels “spiritual” and what feels “ordinary.” We may think ministry, teaching, or serving at church is God's work, while our household responsibilities, workplace, parenting, or daily tasks are simply things we have to do. But Scripture gives us a different perspective: whatever we do can become holy when we do it for the Lord.

Paul says, “Whatever you do.” Not just the impressive things. Not only the things people notice. Even the ordinary, repetitive, unseen work can be an offering to God. The real question is not, “Is my work important enough?” but “Who am I doing it for?” When we work only for people's approval, our motivation rises and falls with recognition. But when we work for the Lord, we can remain faithful even when nobody notices. God sees the work others overlook.

A meal prepared, a child cared for, a classroom taught, a responsibility completed, a person served, a difficult task patiently finished, all can become acts of worship when offered to God.

Holy work is not necessarily great work in the world's eyes. It is faithful work done for God's eyes.

So whatever God has placed in your hands today, do it wholeheartedly not because everyone will appreciate it, but because the Lord sees, receives, and rewards faithful work done for Him.

Reflection:

Am I working mainly for people's approval, or am I consciously working for the Lord?

Application:

Take one ordinary task you have today and intentionally turn it into worship. Before beginning, pray: “Lord, I am doing this for You. Help me do it wholeheartedly.”
